Hampstead resident Adam Bromwell Piet, 32, is facing nearly two dozen charges following his arrest on Tuesday amid an ongoing investigation by the sheriff's office into the illicit materials.
Beginning in July, the Carroll County Advocacy and Investigation Unit initiated an investigation into the possession of child pornography online and later found evidence of distribution, which led them straight to Piet.
According to the sheriff's office, investigators executed a search warrant at Piet's Carroll County home last week, which led to the seizure of multiple electronic devices, which led to his arrest after they were analyzed.
Piet was charged with 10 counts each of possession of child pornography and distribution of child pornography. He was held without bond following his initial court appearance.
"The Carroll County Advocacy and Investigation Unit coordinates with the Maryland Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force," officials stated. "This is a combined law enforcement effort involving police departments across Maryland."
